Shadowboxer Launches Fitness and Mentor Program with Father Chris Riley's Youth off the Streets
Shadowboxer International is proud to be launching a new community based program initiative with Father Chris Riley’s Youth Off The Streets.
Shadowboxer will be working with prominent boxing, martial arts and fitness instructors creating a monthly program to enhance self esteem and personal awareness through the benefits of fitness in young adolescents. As part of this Shadowboxer is looking at developing a mentoring program with the children.
Shadowboxer conducted their first “Shadowboxer Challenge” session Friday 27 June, which involved an hour long training session with Billy & Paul Todd. Billy who is 73 years old, discussed how tough life can be, and how to go about earning respect by respecting yourself and others. Billy has been through some tough exchanges throughout his own life and uses boxing as a parallel to life’s challenges. Whereby, when you get knocked down you get back up again and the importance of continuing to the final round.
The children responded well to this type of program with Billy and Paul as it combines fitness with education. Some were so enthusiastic they asked for some extra time with Billy doing some one on one technique training.
The day ended with a bbq and all the children received their own Shadowboxer VRT and a “Shadowboxer Challenge” Achievement certificate.
Shadowboxer has initially donated $3500 of its product to Youth Off the Streets and looks forward to assisting with their fitness and mentor training programs.
Paul commented “It gave us great satisfaction to be able to contribute and give some guidance to these children in the hope we can make a difference, whether it be big or small. We all live in the same society and we feel it is important to give something back to the community where it is needed.”
